Bob Tyrrell is an American tattoo artist from Detroit, Michigan. He started tattooing in 1997 at the age of 34 after playing guitar in bands and working for 15 years in a countertop factory. He apprenticed at Eternal Tattoos in Detroit with Terry ‘Tramp’ Welker, Tom Renshaw, and the rest of the Eternal crew. He worked at Eternal for years before opening a private studio called Night Gallery. He became known early on for specializing in black and gray work, mainly portraits and photo realism, as well as custom horror imagery. He started working at tattoo conventions in 2000 and has been traveling the world non-stop for the past 17 years.
He’s tattooed many bands including Slayer, Anthrax, Exodus, Mastodon, Kid Rock and the Twisted Brown Trucker Band, Tesla, Death Angel, Testament, Black Label Society, Hellyeah, Damageplan, Destruction, Municiple Waste, The Box Masters, Belphegor, Fight, Uncle Kracker, Broken Hope, Generation Kill, and Fractal Mortals. He’s also done t-shirt designs for Exodus and album covers for Death Angel and Thine Eyes Bleed, as well as the American Badass eagle for Kid Rock’s self-titled album, merch, and beer.
He still lives in Detroit but spends half the year working in Los Angeles, California, and still travels the world working at tattoo conventions.
